The Benefits of Liquid Kava

Liquid kava is more bioavailable than powdered kava. The active ingredients in the plant (kavalactones) are not water-soluble. This makes it harder for the body to absorb the active compounds. Our liquid capsules contain vegetable glycerine, which has similar characteristics to fatty acids (VG is the glycerol backbone of fatty acids). It’s able to dissolve in both water and fat and is rapidly absorbed through the gut lining (carrying the kavalactones along with it).

These capsules kick in faster and exert stronger effects than powdered kava products.

What is Supercritical CO2 Kava Extraction?

Traditional kava extraction used to rely on harsh organic solvents like butane, methanol, or heptane. Here at Gold Bee, we prefer to use supercritical CO2 instead because it eliminates the need for using harsh chemicals. The extracts come out perfectly clean without any reduction in overall potency or quality.

The process uses CO2 gas in place of the solvent. When CO2 is cooled to below-freezing temperatures and placed under high pressure, it goes supercritical. In this state, CO2 is neither gas nor liquid — but has qualities of both. Supercritical CO2 replaces the need for toxic solvents when making our liquid kava concentrates.

How Long Do Kava Liquid Capsules Last?

One of the benefits of making these capsules with a liquid extract is the rapid absorption rate. Once you take your kava capsule, the outer vegetarian shell immediately starts to dissolve. By the time the capsule enters the intestinal tract, the liquid is released and quickly absorbed into the bloodstream.

The first effects are usually felt within about 20 minutes after taking these capsules and build over the course of an hour. The duration of effects varies from person to person — but most people will feel the effects for 3–4 hours. To prolong the effects, you can take another dose around the 3-hour mark as the effects start to diminish.

Carbon-Neutral Cultivation

Our kava is cultivated using a combination of traditional farming practices and solar technology. The planting, maintaining, and harvesting of our kava is done by hand. There’s no need for heavy gas-guzzling machinery. The energy-intensive work of drying and processing the roots into a liquid powder is achieved by harnessing solar energy to drive electric machinery.

While we use carbon dioxide for extraction, none of it is wasted or released back into the atmosphere. Once the extract is made, the CO2 is collected and used again for future batches. Anything that wasn’t used to make these capsules is composted and put right back into the Earth to fuel the growth of future harvests.
